Merzouga to Fez Trip: 3 Days

Head into the immensity of the desert and enjoy a unique adventure visiting beautiful locations like Ouarzazate and the Erg Chebbi dunes with this 3-day trip through Merzouga to Fez.

Trip Description

Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley

We'll leave Marrakech and set off for Ouarzazate, a journey of approximately 4 hours through the Atlas, crossing the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We'll stop at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and continue to Ouarzazate to view the Kasbah of Taourirt. Afterward, we will travel along the Thousand Kasbahs Road towards Skoura and arrive at the Dades Valley around sunset for our first night's accommodation.

Day 2: Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Merzouga

After breakfast, we will explore the Dades Gorges and then head to Merzouga via the Jorf Palm Grove, stopping for lunch in Erfoud. In Merzouga, guests can choose between a camel ride or a quad bike tour, with costs for the quad bike incurred by participants. We'll enjoy a Moroccan dinner in Erg Chebbi under the stars.

Day 3: Rissani - Ziz Valley - Middle Atlas - Fez

We’ll witness the sunrise in the desert, followed by a shower and breakfast. Then, we will proceed to Fez, passing by Tafilalet and Rissani. We will stop at the monkey forest in Azrou and continue to Fez, arriving around 6 pm. The journey will be via taxi with a driver who speaks English, Spanish, or French, depending on availability.

Accommodation

The first night will be in Dades, with options including Dar Essyaha, Hotel Babylon, or similar. The second night will be in a haima camp in Merzouga, with standard and superior categories differing in bathroom facilities. The standard category has common bathrooms, while the superior has private bathrooms. Both categories feature different interior decorations, and air-conditioning in luxury camps incurs an additional charge of 30EUR per person. Rooms can be double, triple, or family setups.
