Airboat Trip in Barataria Preserve

Meet colorful bayou creatures, such as ospreys, pelicans, frogs, turtles, owls, and snakes. We'll meet at your chosen time on Barataria Boulevard to board the airboat for a tour of the swamps of the Barataria Preserve. We'll sail through these marshes, part of the Jean Lafitte National Park, discovering its unique ecosystem.

The hovercraft allows us to reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour while slowing down at certain points to capture the scenery. The airboat will take us to hidden corners of the reserve inaccessible by traditional vessels. The captain will share insights about local culture and the life of fishermen amid alligators. The tour lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Capacity of the Airboats

There are two types of airboats: a standard capacity of up to 16 people or a smaller one for up to 9 people. The small group option offers a more personalized experience.

Children Under 17

Children under 17 may participate if they are over 4 feet (122 centimeters) tall. Those under this height will not be allowed on the airboat.

Hotel pickup

You can book a hotel pickup service, which will take you one and a half hours before the boat ride and return you to your accommodation in New Orleans after the activity.

Oak Alley Plantation

Enhance your experience with an airboat ride plus a visit to Oak Alley Plantation. This option includes hotel pickup, an English-speaking guide, and admission to the plantation. The itinerary starts with a guided mansion tour, followed by the airboat ride. This tour lasts 9 hours.
