Marsala Salt Pans Tour

At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance of the salt mines in Marsala to begin our tour. These salt pans, located within the Stagnon Nature Reserve, are an important financial source for the city and the region and serve as a habitat for various migratory bird species.

We'll start at the windmill in Infersa, where you'll learn about sea salt production and collection through videos that explain how this structure operates. This windmill is the only one still in operation in the province of Trapani and dates back to the 16th century.

After the windmill tour, we'll visit the salt pans of the mill, walking along the shore between the pools while sharing information about manual salt collection. This salt has a Protected Geographical Indication due to its centuries-old extraction technique.

Depending on the time of day, you may observe the changing colors of the pools, particularly at sunset when pink and orange hues contrast with the blue Mediterranean Sea. This 1-hour tour concludes with farewells.
