Marsala Salt Pans Tour

We'll meet at the entrance of the salt mines in Marsala to begin our tour, located within the Stagnon Nature Reserve. These salt pans are an important financial source for the city and habitat for various species of migratory birds. Participants will see diverse fauna and flora.

The tour will start at the windmill in Infersa, where you will learn about sea salt production and collection through videos and details of its operation. This windmill is the only one still operating in the province of Trapani and dates back to the 16th century.

Afterwards, we will visit the salt pans of the mill, walking along the shore between pools, while sharing facts about manual salt collection. This product has a Protected Geographical Indication due to its centuries-old extraction technique.

The tour's experience is enhanced by the changing colors of the pools. At sunset, pink and orange hues contrast with the blue of the Mediterranean Sea. Throughout the day, sunlight illuminates the salt mounds, making the landscape surreal, presenting great photo opportunities.

Following this 1-hour tour, we will conclude the activity and part ways.
