Murgia Materana Hiking Tour

We'll meet at the indicated time in Piazza Matteotti and head towards the Murgia Materana Regional Park.

The route will take us across the Murgia plateau to this UNESCO World Heritage Site, designated in 2007. The park includes settlements from the Paleolithic and Neolithic eras and remains of medieval villages and convents.

During the hike, we'll explore hills and rock caves, witnessing unique geological features like deep karst breccias and impressive ravines.

We will also pass through pastoral communities established by hermit monks and view cave paintings from the Greek-Byzantine period.

After two and a half hours of exploration, we will return to the starting point to conclude the tour.
