Black River Gorges Hiking Tour
The journey begins at the meeting point at the Le Pétrin information center, providing immediate access to the enchanting Black River Gorges National Park.
For approximately four hours, we'll traverse the extensive trails weaving through this natural paradise, which spans over 16,000 acres. Expect to encounter vibrant landscapes filled with over 300 species of trees and plants along with rich wildlife, including various birds, monkeys, and reptiles.
As we walk through the Macchabée forest, numerous viewpoints will greet us, showcasing stunning panoramic vistas of the park's valleys and mountains. We'll capture pictures of the beautiful waterfalls that gracefully flow through the gorges.
On our return to the starting point, we'll pass by the Mare Longue reservoir at the park's northern end. Here, there’s a chance to spot the rare pink pigeon, endemic to Mauritius.
Ultimately, this enriching experience concludes about five hours later, back at the Le Pétrin information center, after covering 7.5 miles through verdant trails and tropical scenery.
