Mr. Lionso Ranch Visit + Mezcal Tasting

On this visit to Mr. Lionso's Ranch, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the artisanal mezcal process and enjoy a tasting with unique flavours.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Mazatlán and drive to the Mr. Lionso Ranch, about 40 minutes away, surrounded by agave fields. This location represents the mezcal tradition in the south of Sinaloa.

Upon arrival, we'll visit the ranch's factory to learn about the mezcal production process. We will explore the ovens, stills, and barrels and explain how this drink has been integral to local culture since the 19th century. You will learn about the artisanal methods still in use today.

During the tour, we will discover the concept of a vinata and its historical significance. We will learn to differentiate between the various types of mezcal and interesting facts about agave, the primary plant used in this distillate.

We will also participate in a tasting of mezcals produced at the ranch, including white, rested, almond, coffee, hibiscus, tamarind, mango, and chocolate.

To complement the experience, we'll enjoy a delicious molcajete flamed with mezcal, machaca burritos, guacamole, and a refreshing bougainvillea flower water. After lunch, we will return to Mazatlán, concluding the tour at your hotel after approximately 2.5 hours.
