Melfi, Venosa y Lagopesole Private Tour
This private tour covers the archaeological sites of Basilicata and the Vulture region. We will meet at the Castle of Melfi and follow the guide in your own vehicle to visit key locations.
The tour begins in Venosa, where we will visit the archaeological museum, which features remains of the ancient Roman colony of Venusia, founded in 291 B.C. We will explore the streets of this historic city, including the baths and a decorated domus with mosaics. The backdrop will be the noteworthy abbey of the Holy Trinity, where we will learn about its history before proceeding.
Next, we will return to Melfi to explore its heritage, including the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral and the castle of Frederick II, home to the National Archaeological Museum of Melfese, featuring artifacts from the Archaic, Classical, and Roman periods.
A break will be included for refreshments. The final stop will be in Lagopesole, linked to Frederick II and Manfredi, where we will discuss its historical significance and see the castle.
The tour concludes back in Melfi between eight and nine hours after it begins.
