Embark on a journey to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve and explore one of the most ecologically rich areas of the Yucatán. Enjoy an enchanting boat ride while observing flamingos and herons in their natural habitat!
Tour Overview
We'll gather at the specified meeting point in Mérida before making our way to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve, a breathtaking natural wonder of the Yucatán Peninsula. Let the adventure begin!
Upon our arrival, we'll set off on a 90-minute boat excursion through the mangrove ecosystems of this protected area. As we glide past Bird Island, take in the sight of the majestic pink flamingos along with herons, hawks, and pelicans. Our route will also take us through Valeosera Lagoon and Quinitun Lagoon, so keep your camera handy—you may even catch a glimpse of a crocodile basking on the banks!
The exploration continues as we navigate through the thriving mangrove forest, seeking out various wildlife such as ducks, armadillos, ocelots, wild turkeys, and white-tailed deer, amidst over 300 species! We will also pause at a cenote nestled within the mangroves, where, if conditions permit, a refreshing swim in this enchanting location awaits.
Next, we will make our way to Celestún Beach, specifically to the Beach Club. Here, you will have three hours of leisure time to savor a delicious fish or chicken fillet lunch by the ocean and unwind on the sandy shores.
In conclusion, we’ll make our return to Mérida, wrapping up our nine-hour adventure filled with discovery and beauty.
