Embark on an intriguing day trip from Merida to Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos, where you will witness crocodiles and flamingos and marvel at the stunning pink waters within a distinct ecosystem of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Description
Your adventure begins as we convene at the Paseo 60 shopping mall at the designated time. From there, we will depart in a minibus, leaving the vibrant city of Merida behind and heading toward Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos. Get ready to discover the natural marvels of the northern Yucatan Peninsula.
After a picturesque two-and-a-half-hour journey, we will arrive at the Las Coloradas reserve. The remarkable shades of yellow, orange, and pink in the waters are a result of the high levels of salt and algae, presenting a truly breathtaking vista.
Next, we will embark on a 1.5-hour hiking adventure through this stunning natural setting, uncovering its distinctive features.
Following this, we will head to the enchanting Rio Lagartos, where a delightful boat ride awaits. This excursion provides an opportunity to view the rich local wildlife. Have you ever encountered crocodiles and flamingos? With a touch of luck, you might observe these species in their natural surroundings.
After our two-hour boat ride along the Lagartos River, you will have the opportunity to indulge in a traditional Maya bath, rejuvenating your skin with white mud. When hunger strikes, we will stop for lunch at a local eatery.
As our day of adventure comes to a close, we will transport you back to Merida, culminating our unforgettable twelve-hour journey.
