Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Merida and travel to the Mucuyché Hacienda in Abalá. After a 1-hour journey, we'll start a self-guided tour of the estate. Its name in the indigenous language means 'tree of the dove'.
During the tour, we will discuss the estate's 17th-century history and its role in the Henequen industry. Following the industry's decline, the hacienda was closed for many years, but much of its original state has been preserved with minimal restorations.
Post-tour, you will have 3 hours to enjoy the cenotes at the estate. You can swim in the Carlota Cenote, which is semi-open and has a depth of up to 7 metres (23 feet), named after Empress Carlota, who visited in 1865. Additionally, you can explore the Azul Maya Cenote and cross between them via a canal by swimming or walking along a stone path.
Finally, we'll return to Merida and conclude this 6-hour trip at your hotel.
