Let yourself be charmed by the magical villages of Yucatan on this excursion to Izamal and Motul. We'll follow in the footsteps of the Mayans and swim in a cenote.
Description
At the indicated time we'll pick you up at your hotel in Mérida to start this excursion to Izamal and Motul.
First, we'll head to the town of Motul, where we’ll stop at the local market to taste the traditional eggs from Motul.
After that, we’ll visit the Sambulá Cenote, where you can take a dip in its crystalline waters. Next, we’ll go to the Museum of Felipe Carrillo Puerto to see objects related to this important figure in Yucatan's history.
We will proceed southeast to the magical town of Izamal, known for being painted yellow to honor John Paul II in 1993. Here, we'll explore the City of the Three Cultures, featuring colonial houses from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, and visit the monastery of San Antonio de Padua, built with stones from a Mayan pyramid.
Lastly, we'll visit the Kinich Kakmó Pyramid, one of the largest structures in Mesoamerica, dedicated to the Mayan god. After 8 hours of sightseeing, we will drive back to Mérida and finish the tour at your hotel.
