Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Mérida and start this excursion to Izamal and Motul. We will first head to the town of Motul. Upon arrival, we'll stop at the local market to taste the traditional eggs from Motul.
Afterwards, we'll visit the Sambulá Cenote, where you can take a dip in its crystalline waters. We will then tour the Museum of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, which houses objects and documents related to this important figure in Yucatan's history.
Next, we'll travel southeast to the magical town of Izamal, where the buildings are painted yellow. This town, known as the Golden City of Yucatan, was painted in 1993 to celebrate the visit of John Paul II. We will explore its colonial houses from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries and visit the monastery of San Antonio de Padua, built with stones from a Mayan pyramid.
Lastly, we will see the Kinich Kakmó Pyramid, one of the largest structures in Mesoamerica, before returning to Mérida to conclude the tour at your hotel after 8 hours of sightseeing.
