Izamal Day Trip + Light & Sound Show

On this day trip to Izamal, we'll explore this Pueblo Mágico and enjoy the light and sound show organised in its historic centre.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Merida and drive by minibus towards Izamal, where we'll arrive after about 1.5 hours.

Upon arrival, we'll approach the Kinich Kakmó Pyramid. A guided tour will be provided around this structure, which pays homage to the Maya sun god, offering a panoramic view of the historical centre known for its yellow houses. We'll discuss the influence of Pope John Paul II on this colour.

Next, we'll visit the convent of San Antonio de Padua, located steps away from the main square of Izamal. This 16th-century Franciscan convent is one of the most important historical monuments of Yucatan.

We'll also visit the town of Kimbilá, known for making guayaberas. Here, you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore the shops and garments available. Afterwards, you can have lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we'll attend the light and sound show in Izamal. The colourful projections on the yellow façade of the Convent of San Antonio de Padua will create a stunning audiovisual spectacle that blends architecture and history.

After the show, we'll return to Mérida and drop you off at your hotel approximately 10 hours after the initial pickup.
