On this free tour of Mérida, we'll discover the rich monumental heritage in the historic capital of Yucatán, essential for visitors to the city.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Montejo Museum-House to begin our tour. We will learn about the 16th-century construction and its significance as a Historical Monument, along with the history of the Montejo family.
Our guided visit will take us to Plaza Grande Square, where we will view the façade of the Yucatán Cathedral, dedicated to San Idelfonso, highlighting its Spanish heritage.
Next, we will stop at the Government Palace of the State of Yucatán, notable for its eclectic classical style. Nearby, the Gran Hotel de Mérida is one of the most famous hotels in the city, and we will explore why.
We will visit the Parque de la Madre, dedicated to motherhood, and in front of it stands the José Peón Contreras Theatre, where we will discuss the main achievements of this Mexican figure. The tour will continue to Parque de Santa Lucía Square to see two giant white benches and their purpose.
