Meteorite Museum + Jurassic Trail Day Trip

On this day trip from Mérida, we'll visit the Meteorite Museum and the Jurassic Trail - a fantastic activity for the whole family!

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Mérida and head for the coastal town of Progreso. Here, we'll travel back in time to 66 million years ago, to a time when dinosaurs roamed our earth!

Our first stop will be at the Meteorite Museum. At the museum, we'll visit 8 rooms that will give us plenty of insight into the asteroid that fell in this area, creating the Chicxulub crater - a crater which is more than 180 kilometres (111 miles) in diameter and is classified as the largest in the world!

This meteorite caused the extinction of numerous species on Earth. You'll see fossils, recreations of dinosaurs and virtual reality digital exhibits. You can also go to the lookout point for views of the Caribbean Sea and a cenote.

Afterwards, we'll visit the Jurassic Trail, a theme park located in the port of Chicxulub, where we will see numerous life-size dinosaur recreations. Velociraptors, Bachiosaurus, Triceratops, Dakotaraptor and the T-Rex will be some of the specimens you will be able to admire.

Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Mérida, concluding the tour after 4 hours of activity.
