Would you like to know the secrets of the Mayan culture? On this tour to Uxmal from Merida, we'll visit the archaeological site, part of the Puuc Route, and the ancient Hacienda Yaxcopoil.
Description
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Merida and drive to Hacienda Yaxcopoil to learn about the culture and traditions of the area. Its name in Mayan means "place of the green poplars." Here, we will discuss the history of the estate, reflecting the three main periods of Yucatán's past: pre-Hispanic life, colonial life, and the henequen boom.
Next, we'll head to Uxmal, a World Heritage Site. We'll visit key structures like the Pyramid of the Soothsayer, the Nun's Quadrangle, the Ball Court, and the Governor's Palace.
After exploring Uxmal, we will visit a cenote for a refreshing dip. We will then move to a neighboring village to meet with a local chef, who will teach us several typical recipes of Mayan cuisine.
A Yucatecan lunch will be served, which includes a typical dish from several options. Should weather conditions prevent an outdoor cooking class, lunch will be held in a restaurant.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Merida, arriving approximately 9 hours after pickup.
