Enjoy a day filled with nature and history, on this excursion to Etna, where you'll visit the tallest active volcano in Europe, and Taormina, famous for its Roman remains.

Etna and Taormina Tour

We'll leave Messina on an air-conditioned bus to Etna, located one and a half hours away, home to the largest active volcano in Europe at 3,000 metres tall.

Our first stop is the Sapienza refuge, where we will discuss the recent eruptions of the Etna Volcano. At the refuge, you can explore the main craters formed by a significant eruption in 1892. Optionally, you can ascend to 2500 metres via a cable car (not included in the tour, price €30).

We will then travel to Taormina, seventy kilometres from Etna. In this historic city, we will stroll down Umberto Street, guided through the history of Taormina, its main churches, and monuments. Recommendations for local restaurants and ice cream shops will be provided.

We will return to Messina on the same bus, arriving back at the original meeting point.
