Guided Tour of Messina
The tour starts near the Messina port. We will guide you through the city's tumultuous history, marked by natural disasters and invasions. At the port, see the golden statue of the Virgin Mary, which greets visitors, and learn about its significance.
Next, we visit the Church of the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani, showcasing Arab, Roman, and Byzantine architectural influences, built atop the ruins of a temple dedicated to Neptune.
Messina is famous for its cannoli; enjoy a tasting of these pastries at a local bakery.
We will then arrive at Piazza del Duomo to appreciate the cathedral's 12th-century architecture, featuring an ornamental clock tower, a key sight in Messina.
The walking tour concludes at the Puppet Theatre Museum of the Gargano family, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
