Segway Tour of Messina
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani Church to start our segway tour around Messina, located in north-east Sicily.
We will take via Castello a mare, also known as Castellamare, to reach Piazza Cairoli, a major commercial area in Messina. From there, we'll continue to Piazza Pugliatti, where the courthouse and the university are located.
The next stop will be Piazza Duomo, home to significant monuments such as the Orion fountain, the Cathedral, and its clock tower, which features moving bronze statues that activate when the astronomical clock strikes the hour.
We will ride past baroque fountains and neoclassical churches to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele III, an atmospheric spot in Messina. Next, we will head to the Church of Montalto for a panoramic view of the city.
On the return trip, we will pass the medieval Church of St. Francis of Assisi and the baroque Palace of Monte di Pietà, which was damaged during the 1908 earthquake. We will then visit Piazza Unità d'Italia, where the Government Palace and the fountain of Neptune are located.
Finally, we will go to Piazza Municipio to see the statue of Ferdinand of Bourbon and the Vittorio Emanuele II theatre before concluding this three-hour tour at the meeting point.
