Discover the Meteora Monasteries, where the architecture merges with the rocks at over 600 meters high.

Day Trip Details

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up by minibus at the meeting point in Kalambaka to start the journey to Meteora, home to the iconic hanging monasteries. After a brief 20-minute journey, you will witness these monasteries perched atop rocky formations 600 meters (1,968 feet) above the ground.

During the tour, we will share stories and facts about Meteora and its monasteries. Once, 24 monasteries existed here, but today only six are visitable: Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Rousanou, St. Nicholas Anapausas, St. Stephen, and Holy Trinity. We will visit three of these monasteries, depending on the day. Note that visits inside are not guided, but we will provide all necessary information beforehand.

The tour lasts for 4 hours, concluding with the transfer back to Kalambaka.

Visit to the Monasteries

During the tour, you will visit the interiors of three monasteries, subject to accessibility. The Great Meteoron Monastery is closed every Tuesday; if your tour is on that day, we will only admire its exterior. There are no guided tours inside the monasteries, but an audio guide is available for download.

If you cannot join this tour on your preferred date, consider booking the Meteora sunset trip.
