Meteora Sunset Trip

The monasteries of Meteora serve as a major attraction for visitors to Greece. On this day trip from Kalambaka, you can admire the sunset and visit one or two UNESCO-protected monasteries.

Pickup is available from your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki in the morning as we head to Meteora. An English-speaking guide will provide insights into the history of these rocky formations, which rise more than 600 meters high, and the monasteries that rest atop them.

Among the original 24 monasteries, 13 remain, with six open for visits: the Grand Meteora Monastery, St. Nicholas Monastery, Monastery of the Holy Trinity, St. Stephen's Monastery, Roussanou, and Varlaam Monasteries. During this trip, you will visit one or two of them, illuminated by the sunset.

Additionally, the Byzantine church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, an 11th-century temple beneath the Meteora rocks, will be part of the tour.

To conclude the day, you will witness the sun setting behind the monasteries with free time for photography, creating a memorable experience. Afterward, we will return you to your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki under the night sky.
