The tour meets at the main entrance to the Anthropological Museum to begin the Origins of Mesoamerican Culture guided tour.
Mexico City's National Anthropological Museum is the most important museum in Latin America, attracting more than two million visitors annually to view the largest collection of prehispanic art globally.
We will spend 2.5 hours learning about prehispanic societies and the latest archaeological excavations and ethnographic studies. The tour will take us back 10,000 years to examine a significant collection of daily objects from Mexico's first inhabitants and symbolic elements from their cultural and religious practices.
You'll see the renowned 'Sun Stone', known as the Aztec Calendar, and learn about its significance concerning the universe's origin. The tour includes reconstructions of tombs and temples from ancient Aztec and Mayan civilizations, along with artifacts from Zapotec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, and Mexica cultures.
After the tour, you will have free time to explore the museum at your own pace.
