Explore different eras of Mexico City on this guided tour of the most historical places in the Chapultepec Forest: the Chapultepec Castle and the National Anthropological Museum.
Tour Details
The tour begins at the Chapultepec Castle, now the National History Museum, which has a significant historical background, including its role during the American invasion and as a presidential residence until 1944. It also served as the imperial palace for Maximiliano and Carlota during the French intervention known as the "Second Mexican Empire."
We will spend 1 hour 30 minutes exploring the castle, viewing sculptures of historical figures such as Cuauhtémoc and Hernán Cortés, while learning about Mexico's conquest, independence, and revolution. Visitors will experience the European-style decorated halls and the life of Emperor Maximiliano, enjoying views of Mexico City from the balconies.
Next, the tour continues with a 2-hour 30-minute guided visit to the National Anthropological Museum, notable for hosting the largest collection of pre-Colombian art worldwide. Participants will discover reconstructions of Aztec and Mayan tombs and temples, along with archaeological pieces from various Mesoamerican civilizations.
Partial closures
Occasionally, Chapultepec Castle may close without prior notice. A refund will be offered for the affected portion of the tour.
