Explore different eras of Mexico City on this guided tour of historical places in Chapultepec Forest: the Chapultepec Castle and the National Anthropological Museum.
Itinerary
Our first stop will be the Chapultepec Castle, currently the National History Museum, known for its role in battles during the American invasion, military college, and as a Presidential residence until 1944. It also served as the imperial palace for Maximiliano and Carlota during the French intervention known as the "Second Mexican Empire".
We'll spend 1 hour 30 minutes visiting the castle, observing sculptures of historical figures such as Cuauhte?moc and Hernán Cortés, and uncovering stories about conquest, independence, and revolution. We will pass through halls decorated in a traditional European style and learn about Emperor Maximiliano's life.
After enjoying views of Mexico City from the castle’s balconies, you will have free time for a drink.
Next, the tour takes you to the National Anthropological Museum for a 2-hour 30-minute guided visit, home to the largest collection of pre-Colombian art in the world. We will explore reconstructions of tombs and temples from Aztec and Mayan civilizations and view archaeological pieces from Zapotec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, and Mexica cultures.
Partial closures
Occasionally, Chapultepec Castle may close without notice. If this part of the tour is unavailable, a refund will be provided for that portion of the tour.
