Guatemala History Tour
Pickup from your hotel in Guatemala City is at 8 am, followed by a journey to the old colonial town of Guatemala.
After about one hour, we will reach the centre of Antigua Guatemala. Our first stop is Central Park, where we will see the Palacio de Los Capitanes Generales, the old city council, and San José Church, previously the city’s cathedral.
You will have the opportunity to take a photo by the Fountain of the Mermaids, built in 1739, which symbolizes purity and temptation.
Next, we will visit the Second Cathedral in Antigua Guatemala, highlighting its baroque facade and smooth columns.
A stop will be made to sample a traditional dish at a local restaurant (not included), after which we will tour the modern side of Guatemala City.
During the visit to the modern district, we will walk along Avenida Las Américas to the city centre, viewing governmental buildings such as the Supreme Court, Finance Ministry, city council, and Bank of Guatemala.
The tour concludes at the Plaza Mayor de la Constitución, where the Catedral Metropolitana is also located. We will return to hotels in Guatemala City around 5:30 pm.
