On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we'll explore the history of Cuneo, known for its beauty in the Piedmont region.
Tour Description
The guided tour of Monforte d'Alba begins at the Tourist Office, located at 3 Via della Chiesa. We will discover this beautiful village in the Langhe area, situated south and east of the Tanaro River.
We will first visit the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, from the early 20th Century. Next, we will head to Piazza Umberto I, the center of social and commercial life, and then to the Martina Museum, commemorating a colonel of the Savoy army.
After exploring the ancient palace and its various rooms, we will proceed to the medieval part of Monforte d'Alba. Here, we will discuss the Cathars as we walk through Saracca, the oldest quarter. Our next stop will be Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa to view the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino and the Clock Tower.
We will then visit the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, home to the Monforte Jazz Festival every July, and stop at the iconic Big Bench #12 for photos.
The tour concludes at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point after one hour.
