On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we'll learn about the history of Cuneo, one of the most beautiful provinces of the Piedmont region.
Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll start our guided tour of Monforte d'Alba from the Tourist Office, located at 3 Via della Chiesa. The tour features the hilly area south and east of the Tanaro River, in Piedmont's province of Cuneo.
First, we'll visit the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, dating from the early 20th Century. The tour will then continue to Piazza Umberto I, the town's social and commercial hub. From here, we'll proceed to the Martina Museum, dedicated to a colonel of the Savoy army.
After exploring the ancient palace and its various rooms, we'll head to the medieval part of Monforte d'Alba in the upper section, discussing the Cathars while walking through Saracca, the town's oldest district. Next, we'll visit Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa, where we'll see the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino and the Clock Tower.
Subsequently, we'll visit the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, located where the Monforte Jazz Festival occurs every July, and stop at the Big Bench #12 for photos.
Finally, after an hour, we'll conclude at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point.
