On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we'll learn about the history of Cuneo, one of the provinces of the Piedmont region.
Tour Description
We will begin our guided tour of Monforte d'Alba at the Tourist Office, located at 3 Via della Chiesa. The tour showcases one of the villages in the Langhe. The hilly area is situated south and east of the Tanaro River, in Piedmont's province of Cuneo.
First, we will visit the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, dating from the early 20th Century, and continue to Piazza Umberto I, the center of the town's social and commercial activities. Next, we will explore the Martina Museum, dedicated to a colonel of the Savoy army.
Afterward, we will walk through the medieval part of Monforte d'Alba in the upper area, discussing the Cathars while navigating the streets of Saracca, the oldest quarter of the town. We will also visit Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa, where we will see the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino and the Clock Tower.
We'll proceed to the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, the venue for the Monforte Jazz Festival each July, and stop at the iconic Big Bench #12 for pictures.
The tour will conclude at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point after an hour.
