Monforte de Lemos Guided Tour

We'll meet up 10 minutes before the scheduled time in front of the Parador Nacional de Turismo to begin our guided walking tour of Monforte de Lemos, the capital of the Ribeira Sacra.

During the tour, we will admire panoramic views of the Lemos Valley and learn about this town in Lugo, founded in 1104. The tour includes exploring the exterior of the Monte de San Vicente monumental complex, which features the County Palace, the Church of San Vicente del Pino, the castle, its keep, and the cloisters of the Monastery of San Vicente del Pino.

We will then walk through the medieval village, where we will see the Campillo de la Virgen, the medieval wall with its three gates, and the falagueira street that structures the medieval burgh. The remains of the Jewish quarter, part of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters, will also be highlighted.

Next, we will visit the Dominican Convent, the present-day Church of A Régoa, the old bridge, and the exterior of the Convent of the Poor Clares.

Finally, we will pass by the Ribeira Sacra Wine Centre and conclude at the Plaza de España after 2 hours of history and notable architecture.
