Montalcino & Abbey of Sant'Antimo Private Tour
At the time of your choice, we'll meet on Via Ricasoli to start our guided tour of Montalcino. Get ready to walk through a town in the Orcia Valley.
We'll walk through the historical center of this medieval town while covering its history, including its role in the conflicts between Siena and Florence and its status as a refuge for the nobility during these battles.
During the tour, we'll admire the exteriors of the 14th-century Fortress of Montalcino, the Palazzo dei Priori, and the Palazzo Pieri. The town's winemaking tradition and its famous Brunello di Montalcino will also be discussed.
At the end of the tour of Montalcino, you'll drive to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, located 15 minutes away, following the guide's vehicle.
We will enter the church to admire its Romanesque decorations. Founded in 750 by Charlemagne, this monument is one of the most important monastic complexes in Tuscany. There may be the opportunity to hear the Gregorian chants of the Benedictine monks.
After three hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude the tour at the starting point.
