Options
When booking, you can choose between 2 options for a hike around the Cloud Forest. Both last 3 hours and include hotel pickup and drop-off, the use of binoculars and a telescope, and an English-speaking guide.
Here, you can see the details of each option:
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is unique among other rainforests in Costa Rica, as it is in a constant cloud at 1,600 metres (5,250 feet) above sea level. The high humidity provides cloud-like cover.
On this walk, a guide will explain the fauna and flora of this ecosystem, known for its high levels of biodiversity. You may see monkeys, coatis, hummingbirds, and, if lucky, the famous quetzal. Binoculars and a telescope are available for animal observation.
The walking route includes around 9 hikes in the reserve, with La Ventana viewpoint as a spectacular highlight, offering views of both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve
This option allows exploration of Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, located in the Tilarán mountain range bordering the Monteverde conservation site, which encompasses over 300 hectares (741 acres) of cloud forest. Many species of plants and animals, such as spider monkeys and sloths, can be observed here.
