Discover two different Renaissance treasures in the same day on our Montepulciano & Pienza Tour. You'll explore the historic centres of these two Tuscan towns and try some of their delicious cheese and wine.
Montepulciano & Pienza Tour
We'll meet at Montepulciano's Piazza Grande to start our tour of this hill town. From the square, we will admire the Santa Assunta Cathedral, Palazzo Comunale, and the Well of the Griffins and Lions. A stroll through the old town will take us to the Madonna di San Biagio Sanctuary, an example of Tuscan Renaissance architecture.
Next, we'll visit an underground cellar for a tasting of Montepulciano Vino Nobile wine, one of Italy's oldest wines. After the tasting, we will board a minibus to drive through the Orcia Valley to Pienza, recognized as an ideal Renaissance town due to its elegant buildings and classical street layout.
In Pienza, we will walk through the historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see the Pienza Cathedral, Piccolomini, and Borgia palaces. We will also stop to taste some pecorino cheese.
The tour concludes upon our return to the starting point after a duration of 3 hours.
