Why see the Montevideo Carnival?

We'll meet at the entrance of Tablado Primero de Mayo, the venue for the Montevideo Carnival show. The Montevideo Carnival is one of the longest in the world, spanning about 40 consecutive nights, bringing vibrant life and color to Uruguay's capital.

The show features performances by 5 categories of artistic groups: murgas (musical theater), comedians, parodists, revistas (dancers), and comparsas (street performers in costumes). Performances occur at tablados, which are central to the carnival's cultural heritage since the early 20th century.

Participants will experience between 3 and 6 different shows, conducted in Spanish, away from tourist areas, providing an authentic view into the local culture. The event lasts between 3-5 hours.
