Tour Details

Our panoramic tour of Montevideo for cruise passengers conveniently starts from the city's port. During our journey, we'll explore the most iconic landmarks in this Rio Platenese city, all from the comfort of a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle.

Leaving the port, we'll head to Montevideo's Old Town, whose nerve centre is Plaza Matriz, home to the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo, Montevideo's former seat of government.

We'll also see Plaza de la Independencia, in the heart of the Old City. Around it, we'll see some of the city's most iconic monuments, such as the Solís Theatre, the Artigas Mausoleum, the Government House, the Palacio Salvo and the Gateway of the Citadel.

From the center of the capital, we'll head to the Parliament building, known as the Legislative Palace, the seat of that power since 1925. A few minutes away is the Mercado Agrícola de Montevideo, known as MAM, a delightful farmers' market. We'll enter this elegant building, which is over a century old, to browse the stalls and learn about the most famous products of Uruguayan gastronomy.

From the historic city center, we'll also pass by the Obelisco de los Constituyentes, which was constructed in bronze. Our next stop will be at Parque Batlle, home to the iconic Estadio Centenario football stadium, which hosted the very first World Cup in 1930.

We'll then walk along the Rambla de Montevideo, a large avenue that runs along the coast of the Río de la Plata, and we'll go to Pocitos Beach, where you'll have the opportunity to photograph the famous sign with the name of the city.

Finally, we'll visit the Punta Carretas neighborhood, making a stop at the Punta Brava lighthouse, where you'll be able to see the iron structure of the port market. At the end of the tour, 3.5 hours after the start, we'll take you back to the port of Montevideo.
