On this day trip to Aigues-Mortes and the Carbonnière Tower, we’ll visit a walled city and a 13th-century watchtower. It’ll be a very complete tour of Occitania!

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we’ll meet in front of O’Sullivans Pub Montpellier. From there, we’ll set off by minibus to begin a spectacular tour of the Occitania region in southern France.

After traveling 28 km (17.4 mi), we’ll reach the walled city of Aigues-Mortes. This town, built on marshland, is a historical marvel of urban planning. Once there, we’ll walk through the town center and along the walls that protect this city, which has remained in excellent condition.

After exploring the city on a guided tour, we’ll enjoy a tasting of regional specialties such as Camargue salt and fougasse, a flatbread, among other local delicacies.

If you take the tour between April and October, we’ll then board a train for a ride through the Camargue Salt Flats. You’ll be amazed by the pink color of the water in this lagoon.

With this experience behind us, we’ll head to the Carbonnière Tower. There, we’ll climb the staircase to enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding marshes and rice fields.

Finally, we’ll return to Montpellier and end the day trip after a total of 3.5 hours at the original meeting point.
