On this day trip to the Camargue, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, and Aigues-Mortes, visit the pink lagoon, a walled city, and a 13th-century watchtower!
Day Trip from Montpellier
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Odysseum Shopping Center in Montpellier and board a minibus for a tour of the Occitania region in southern France.
After a 28 km (17.3-mile) journey, we'll arrive at the walled city of Aigues-Mortes. Here, we'll explore the city center and the well-preserved walls.
If the tour is between April and October, we'll take a small train for a tour of the Salines de la Camargue to see the vibrant pink water. For tours between November and March, we'll visit the Espiguette Lighthouse to observe typical Camargue birds and explore landscapes of rice fields and marshes.
Next, we'll head to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and explore its historic center, including the Romanesque church and the revered Black Virgin from the 10th century.
Before returning to Montpellier, we'll stop at the Torre Carbonnière to ascend the staircase for panoramic views of the surrounding marshes and rice paddies.
After 8 hours, we'll return to the meeting point, concluding the tour.
