In Mexico, the 1st of November is a very special date. On our Day of the Dead night tour, you'll experience the magic of this holiday in different towns in the state of Michoacán.
Day of the Dead Night Tour
This tour provides insight into how Mexicans observe the night of Día de los Muertos on November 1. We will meet at the Plaza de los Niños Héroes in Morelia at the specified time to start our tour through Michoacán.
Our journey begins in Tupátaro, where we will view traditional Day of the Dead altars, with tributes including photographs, candles, skulls, and flowers. The tour will then proceed to Cuanajo, where we will see further offerings, including the offering of the little wooden horse in the town's main square.
Next, we will visit the cemetery in Tzurumutaro, where family and friends honor their deceased. The atmosphere during this night is characterized by joy, with music and dancing continuing until dawn.
We will also visit Ucasanastacua pier to take a boat to the island of Pacanda, where we can observe various rituals and ceremonies rooted in the Purepécha culture.
At the conclusion of the tour, we will return to the Ucasanastacua dock and then back to the meeting point in Morelia, arriving approximately 15 hours later.
