In Mexico, the 1st of November is a very special date. On our Day of the Dead night tour, you'll experience the magic of this holiday in different towns in the state of Michoacán.
Day of the Dead Night Tour
On the night of Día de los Muertos on November 1, we'll meet at the Plaza de los Niños Héroes in Morelia at the designated time for the Day of the Dead night tour through Michoacán.
First, we'll travel to Tupátaro to admire traditional Day of the Dead altars, where the living pay tribute with candles, skulls, and flowers. Next, we will head to Cuanajo to observe offerings to the deceased, including the offering of the little wooden horse in the main square.
Next, we will visit the cemetery in Tzurumutaro, where friends and relatives honor their deceased loved ones. The atmosphere is joyful with music and dancing, celebrating the reunion with the departed.
We will continue the tour at the Ucasanastacua pier, taking a boat to the island of Pacanda. Here, we will witness various rituals and ceremonies of the night of the dead, rooted in Purepécha culture.
At the end of the excursion, we'll return by boat to the Ucasanastacua dock and then back to the meeting point in Morelia, approximately 15 hours later.
