In Mexico, the 1st of November is a very special date. On our Day of the Dead night tour, you'll experience the magic of this holiday in different towns in the state of Michoacán.

Day of the Dead Night Tour

“We only die when we've been forgotten, and I'll never forget you.” This phrase from the movie Coco encapsulates how Mexicans feel on the night of Día de los Muertos on November 1. We will meet at the Plaza de los Niños Héroes in Morelia at the specified time to begin the Day of the Dead night tour through Michoacán.

Our first stop will be the town of Tupátaro, where we will admire traditional Day of the Dead altars honoring deceased loved ones with candles, skulls, and flowers. Next, we will visit the nearby town of Cuanajo to see offerings to the deceased and the offering of the little wooden horse in the town's main square.

Following this, we will travel to Tzurumutaro to visit the cemetery, where friends and relatives honor the dead in a joyful atmosphere with music and dancing until dawn.

Next, we will go to the Ucasanastacua pier and take a boat to the island of Pacanda, witnessing various rituals and ceremonies of the night of the dead rooted in Purepécha culture.

At the end of the excursion, we will return by boat to the Ucasanastacua dock and then back to the meeting point in Morelia, arriving approximately 15 hours later.
