Get to know one of the most famous butterfly nets in Lake Patzcuaro and enjoy a visit to Janitzio Island on this day trip from Morelia.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Avenida Francisco I Madero and head to the jetty of Lake Patzcuaro, where we'll board a boat to explore the lagoon.
After an hour's cruise on Lake Patzcuaro, we'll visit Isla Janitzio, where we will observe fishermen using their famous butterfly nets and potentially spot charal, black bass, tilapia, and carp in the lake.
Upon arriving at Janitzio Island, we will climb to the statue of José María Morelos, a 47.75-meter tall monument commemorating a significant figure of Mexican Independence.
You will have free time for lunch before we visit the village, historically the province's capital since 1534, learning about Don Vasco de Quiroga, Michoacán's first archbishop, who supported the local indigenous community.
Finally, we will return to the departure pier by boat and arrive back in Morelia at your hotel, completing an 8-hour trip.
