Private Tour to Paricutín Volcano & Angahuan
After picking you up from your hotel in Morelia at 9 am, we will set off on our private tour to explore the Paricutín Volcano, the world's youngest volcano, which emerged from farmland in 1943 and was active for over 10 years.
Following a three and a half hour drive, we will reach the base of the mountain, located in the Pico de Tancítaro National Park. There, we will embark on a two-kilometre route on foot or on horseback, depending on your preference.
We will explore the surroundings of this impressive 2800-metre-high volcano, including the ruins of the village of San Juan Paricutín, buried by lava in a volcanic explosion, and view the remains of the church of San Juan Parangaricutiro.
Next, we will drive to Angahuan, a Purepecha community where we will learn about the indigenous language and customs. We will visit the Church of Santiago Apostle, notable for its Mudéjar-style carvings.
You will then enjoy a traditional lunch of local dishes, such as churipo, corundas, and gordias de queso. Finally, we will return to Morelia and drop you off at your hotel by 6 pm.
