Yunuén & Pacanda Islands + Ihuatzio Tour
We will pick you up from your hotel in Morelia at 9 am. Afterward, we'll travel to Lake Patzcuaro and board a boat to Yunuén Island, which means "crescent moon." On the island, we will walk through forests of junipers, pines, cedars, and oaks, and attend a workshop on the Purépecha language, learning about its three dialects: central, highland, and lake.
Next, we'll travel by boat to Pacanda Island. Alternatively, you may choose to fly across a 550-metre zip-line to reach the island. During our visit, we will see the main square, traditional houses, and admire the lake's beauty, with a chance to meet local fishermen. You will have one hour of free time to eat.
Following this, we will return by boat to the mainland and proceed to the Ihuatzio archaeological site, an ancient Purépecha town that served as an astronomical observatory and ceremonial center. We will tour the site, observing the pyramids dedicated to the gods Curicaveri and Xaratanga.
We will conclude the tour and return to Morelia, arriving at your hotel by 7 pm.
