Kilimanjaro 9-Day Hike Machame Route

The Machame Route is a renowned path to the top of Kilimanjaro. Join this 9-day hike from Moshi for a memorable experience in Tanzania.

Description

Day 1: Moshi

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro National Airport, we will transfer you to Moshi for rest and preparation for the hike ahead.

Day 2: Moshi – Machame Camp

We will leave our hotel early for the entrance to the Machame Route to begin our hike. The trail includes a section through the tropical jungle, stopping for lunch before arriving at the Machame Camp for the night.

Day 3: Machame Camp – Shira Camp

After breakfast, we will trek for about an hour through the highest part of the tropical forest, reaching the Shira Camp at 3840 metres (12,600 feet) after exploring the rocky areas and enjoying views of the Western Brecha Glaciers.

Day 4: Shira Camp – Barranco Camp

We will hike around the Lava Tower and descend through the Barranco zone, reaching a height of around 4600 metres (15,000 feet) before camping at Barranco Camp at 4000 metres (13,123 feet).

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

On this day, we will ascend and descend to reach Karanga Camp, adapting to higher altitudes.

Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

After breakfast, we will continue to Barafu Camp, arriving before sunset amidst typical gale-force winds.

Day 7: Barafu Camp – Mweka Camp

This day starts at 11 PM with a night hike to Stella Point at 5759 metres (18,894 feet) followed by a final ascent to the Uhuru Peak. Following this achievement, we will descend to Mweka Camp for the night.

Day 8: Mweka Camp – Moshi

After breakfast, we will hike a simple trail through the forest to the town of Mweka, then return to the hotel in Moshi for a completion certificate.

Day 9: Moshi

We will transfer you to the airport after breakfast for your flight home.

Pickup at the airport

The tour includes pickup and drop-off from Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport.

Accommodation

The first and last nights will be spent at Springlands Hotel (3 stars) in Moshi.The other nights will be spent at camps.
