Alcantara Gorges Water Trekking

On this water trekking route through the Alcantara Gorges, we'll walk through a protected natural area in the north-east of Sicily.

Tour Description

We'll meet at the designated time at the adventure sports centre on carretera da Sciara s/n in Motta Camastra, where we'll start with a short drive in an off-roading vehicle to the gorges of the Alcantara River.

Upon arrival, we'll begin the water trekking activity in this protected environment. The route covers 700 meters to 1 kilometre of the canyons (0.4 to 0.6 miles), featuring volcanic rock walls up to 25 metres (82 ft) high, formed by cooling magma. We'll walk along the riverbed and observe various geological formations.

During the hike, we'll learn about the origin of these canyons and discover the flora and fauna of this ecosystem, known for its landscapes.

The activity concludes with a return to the starting point, where the off-roading vehicle will take us back to the meeting point. The total duration of the activity is 1 hour.
