Navigate across a vast reservoir and take in its majestic century-old oak trees. This lake excursion on Alqueva allows you to experience some of the most stunning landscapes found inland in Portugal.
Alqueva Lake Boat Excursion
Choose your preferred meeting time at the Alqueva reservoir, where a boat will be ready to embark on a journey across one of Europe's largest artificial lakes. Prepare for an unforgettable experience!
Throughout the trip, we will explore the background of the dam and the diverse ecosystems of the Guadiana river that supports it. Along the way, we will glide past the scenic Herdade Monte da Tapada hill and the mouth of the Degebe river, which empties into the reservoir.
Our sailing adventure includes a visit to the charming small islands of the lake, and if the conditions permit, we will find an ideal spot for a refreshing swim.
After an enjoyable 1.5-hour boat ride, you will have the opportunity to explore the Alqueva Interpretation Centre, featuring a documentary detailing the transformation of this region in Portugal, influenced by the dam and its water management.
The Vessel
The boat designed for this excursion accommodates up to 55 passengers, offering outdoor seating as well as a protected deck for summer and winter use. Additionally, there is a refrigerator on board available for storing your beverages.
