Sail along a colossal reservoir and admire its hundred-year-old oak trees. With this boat trip on Lake Alqueva, you will see some of inland Portugal's most beautiful scenery.
Alqueva Lake Boat Trip
We will meet at the time of your choice at the Alqueva reservoir where a boat will be waiting to take you on a tour of one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe. During the journey, we will discuss the history of the dam and the biodiversity of the Guadiana river on which it is built. The route includes views of the Herdade Monte da Tapada hill and the mouth of the river Degebe flowing into the reservoir.
We will also sail around the picturesque small islands of the lake and, weather permitting, seek a spot to swim. The boat trip lasts an hour and a half. Afterward, you can visit the Alqueva Interpretation Centre, where a documentary explains how this area has transformed due to the dam and its water supply.
The boat
The boat has a capacity of 55 people, featuring outside seating and a deck suitable for summer and winter. There is also a refrigerator on board for storing drinks.
