Berchtesgaden & Eagle's Nest Day Trip
- 10 - 11 Stunden
Description
This day trip takes you from Munich to Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps to visit the Eagle's Nest, a mountain chalet with a dark history related to the Third Reich. The tour starts at Karlsplatz and proceeds to Berchtesgaden, a picturesque mountain town near the Germany-Austria border.
Once in Berchtesgaden, you'll head to Obersalzberg station to access Kehlsteinhaus, also known as the Eagle's Nest. This mountaintop retreat was used exclusively by Nazi Party members during the Third Reich. To reach the chalet at over 6,000 ft, you'll take an elevator carved into the rock (additional cost). Inside, you'll see historical objects and maps from Hitler's era, with the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps.
After a 2-hour guided tour, you'll descend to the mountain's base and proceed to Grafenhöhe restaurant for lunch (not included). The tour concludes with a return journey to Munich, arriving back around 4 pm after a 2-hour drive.
