Leave Munich for the Bavarian Alps to visit a mountain-top house with a history linked to the Third Reich. This includes a day trip to Berchtesgaden and the Eagle's Nest.
Description
Meet at the centre of Munich and board a bus to Berchtesgaden, a mountain town in the Bavarian Alps, near the Germany-Austria border. Once in Berchtesgaden, proceed to Obersalzberg station, the starting point for visits to Kehlsteinhaus, known as the Eagle's Nest, built for Nazi Party members.
To reach the Eagle's Nest at over 6,000 ft (1,834 m), take an elevator built into the rock (elevator fee not included). Inside, see historical maps and objects from Hitler's era (entrance fee not included). The Eagle's Nest offers panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps' mountains and valleys.
After a 2-hour guided tour of Kehlsteinhaus, return via the lift. Visit Grafenhöhe, a restaurant in the foothills, where you will have 1 hour and 15 minutes for lunch (not included).
Following lunch, return to the meeting point in Munich, concluding the tour after approximately 10 to 10.5 hours.
