Berchtesgaden & Eagle's Nest Day Trip
- 10 - 11 Stunden
Leave Munich behind for the day and head into the Bavarian Alps to visit a mountain-top house with a dark history entwined with the Third Reich. Discover its history on this day trip to Berchtesgaden and the Eagle's Nest.
Description
At the indicated time, we will meet in the centre of Munich and take a bus towards Berchtesgaden, a town in the heart of the Bavarian Alps. After arriving, we will proceed to Obersalzberg station, the departure point for visits to Kehlsteinhaus, known as the Eagle's Nest, built for exclusive use by Nazi Party members.
To access the building at over 6,000 ft (1,834 m), an elevator built into the rock (not included) is used. Inside (entrance not included), visitors can see maps and objects used by Hitler and the Nazis during the Second World War. Outside, a viewpoint offers panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps.
After a guided tour of Kehlsteinhaus lasting around 2 hours, we will return via the lift to the base of the mountain, then proceed to Grafenhöhe, a restaurant in the foothills. You will have an hour and fifteen minutes of free time for lunch (not included).
We will then begin our return journey to Munich, concluding the tour after approximately 10 to 10.5 hours.
