Leave Munich for a day trip to the Bavarian Alps, visiting the Eagle's Nest, a site with historical significance linked to the Third Reich.
Description
Meet in the center of Munich at the specified time, then board a bus to Berchtesgaden, a scenic mountain town in the Bavarian Alps near the Germany-Austria border.
Upon arrival, head to Obersalzberg station, the starting point for visits to Kehlsteinhaus, known as the Eagle's Nest. This chalet was built for Nazi Party members during the Third Reich.
To reach the Eagle's Nest at over 6,000 ft (1,834 m), use an elevator built into the rock (cost not included). Inside, view maps and artifacts related to Hitler and the Nazis from World War II; the site also offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The guided tour of Kehlsteinhaus lasts about 2 hours. Afterward, return to the foot of the mountain via the lift and visit Grafenhöhe, a restaurant where you have 1 hour and 15 minutes of free time for lunch (cost not included).
Conclude the day with a return trip to the original meeting point in Munich, totaling approximately 10 to 10.5 hours.
