Leave Munich for a day trip to the Bavarian Alps, visiting Berchtesgaden and the Eagle's Nest, a mountain-top house with a history related to the Third Reich.
Description
At the scheduled time, meet in the center of Munich to board a bus to Berchtesgaden, a mountain town situated in the Bavarian Alps, near the Germany-Austria border.
Upon arrival, you will proceed to Obersalzberg station, the starting point for visits to Kehlsteinhaus, known as the Eagle's Nest. This chalet was built for exclusive use by Nazi Party members.
To reach the Eagle's Nest, located at over 6,000 ft (1,834 m) on Kehlstein Mountain, you will use a rock-embedded elevator (entry not included). Inside, you will find historical maps and objects associated with Hitler and the Nazis. Outside, there is a viewpoint providing panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps.
Your guided tour of Kehlsteinhaus will last around 2 hours. After the tour, you will return to the base of the mountain via the lift and be taken to Grafenhöhe, a nearby restaurant, for 1 hour and 15 minutes of free time for lunch (not included).
Post-lunch, you will return to the initial meeting point in Munich, concluding the tour after approximately 10 to 10.5 hours.
