Dachau Concentration Camp Day Trip
- 4 - 5 Stunden
Although visiting a concentration camp may not be considered 'pleasurable', its historic importance is beyond doubt. On this excursion, we'll remember some of the most tragic events of the 20th century, in the very same place they happened.
Dachau Concentration Camp
After Hitler's rise to power, a camp for political prisoners was established in Dachau, operating for 12 years. The main installations were completed in March 1933, with the first prisoners arriving the next day. Over 200,000 prisoners passed through, with over 40,000 assassinated.
We will meet the guide on Dachauer Straße in the morning and then travel to the Dachau concentration camp, located 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Munich. The journey involves taking a train and a bus, taking about 40 minutes total.
At the camp, we will pass through the same gate as the prisoners, viewing the courtyard, entrance hall, bathrooms, prison, barracks, gas chamber, and cremation ovens, along with various commemorative monuments.
After learning about the day-to-day life of the prisoners and gaining insight into this dark period in German history, we will return to Munich, with a total duration of 4 to 5 hours, including travel.
Important to note
Children under 14 years old aren't permitted to visit the camp with the tour.
