Harburg Castle and Rothenburg Day Trip
The route from Munich to Harburg Castle and Rothenburg is often referred to as Southern Germany's Romantic Road, taking you through the idyllic forests and mountains of Bavaria.
After pickup from the meeting point, we will head into rural Bavaria. Our first stop is Harburg Castle, where you have the opportunity to visit this 11th-century fortress at your own pace (entry not included). This complex is one of the oldest and best-conserved medieval citadels in Bavaria.
The route continues toward Rothenburg, passing through the fascinating volcanic landscapes of the Suabia region, abundant in fossils of prehistoric animals.
Arriving in Rothenburg, a well-preserved medieval town with striking red tile rooftops, known as the 'Red Fort'. We will explore the cobbled streets and the enchanting old town, encountering the 14th-century wall and the old city gateway. There will be an opportunity to stroll along the wall and climb the 200m Röedert Tower.
After this tour, you will have free time for dining and shopping around the narrow streets of this beautiful location. Our return trip to Munich will pass through Hallertau, the largest hop-growing area in the world, arriving back at the original departure point around 7 pm.
