Discover the stories, fables and legends hidden behind the walls of the Mad King's Palace on this tour to Neuschwanstein Castle from Munich.
Tour Details
After meeting the guide in the morning, we will leave for the south of Bavaria by bus or train, depending on the season. During the two-hour trip, the professional English-speaking guide will share interesting facts about the region.
We will see Neuschwanstein Castle and admire the nearby Hohenschwangau Castle, the childhood home of Ludwig II of Bavaria. The tour includes insights about this historic figure, also known as the Mad King.
The tour includes the best viewpoints to admire Neuschwanstein's architecture, such as the Marienbrücke, a bridge 98 feet (30 meters) high with photo opportunities of the Bavarian landscapes. If time permits and the weather is favorable, we may visit the lake on the castle's grounds or stroll through the countryside, with a stop for food and drinks.
You can choose to enter Neuschwanstein Castle to view its interior; tickets are not included and must be purchased from the guide (adults: 24 EUR; free for children under 18 years old). The castle is a short uphill walk from the car park, or accessible by horse-drawn carriage or bus.
After nine hours of exploring German history and architecture, we will return to Munich, concluding the tour.
Important Info
Tickets for Neuschwanstein Castle are not included in the excursion price. You can buy tickets from your guide. If you choose not to visit the interior, you will have free time to explore the surroundings.
