Mussomeli Monuments Tour

At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Piazzale Castello Manfredonico to start exploring one of the most characteristic monuments of Mussomeli.

Before entering the Manfredonico Castle, we'll pause to admire its impressive façade and learn about the historical importance of this building, constructed in the 14th century. The castle was built under the order of a descendant of Charlemagne, focusing on Manfredi III Chiaramonte's influence in Sicily.

We will enter the castle to visit its armoury, throne room, bedroom and its chapel. We'll observe the decoration and discuss its concealed traps.

After the castle, we'll head to the centre of Mussomeli for a guided tour of other significant historical monuments.

We will visit the church of San Ludovico or Chiesa Madre, built by Manfredi III. After exploring its interior, we will see the façade of the Clock Tower, explore the Palazzo Trabia, and the Palazzo Sgadari, which previously served as a prison and now houses the archaeological museum of Mussomeli.

After a four-hour tour, we will conclude by bidding farewell to the Palazzo Sgadari.
