Mussomeli Walking Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Mussomeli Castle, or castello Manfredonico, to begin the tour.
Mussomeli played a significant role in medieval times. After introductions, we'll discuss the history of the castle while admiring its façade and walls.
Next, we'll take a half-hour stroll to the historic centre of Mussomeli. As we walk through the narrow streets, we'll discover its churches, palaces, and artistic beauty. We'll stop at the Church of Saint Ludovico, known as the Chiesa Madre, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, notable for its belfry.
Then we'll visit the Clock Tower, dating back to the 16th century and restored in the early 20th century, equipped with a three-sided clock for telling time from various points in town.
The route includes Palazzo Sgadari, which became a prison in the 19th century and now houses the Archaeological Museum of Mussomeli. We'll also see Palazzo Trabia and the exteriors of churches such as Santa Margherita, Providence, and Monti.
After three hours, the tour will conclude near the Chiesa di San Giovanni.
