Mussomeli Walking Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Mussomeli Castle, or castello Manfredonico, to begin a guided tour of Mussomeli. This town played a significant role in medieval times. After introductions, we'll discuss the history of the castle while admiring its façade and fortified walls.
Next, we'll go on a half-hour stroll to the historic centre of Mussomeli. As we walk through the narrow streets, we will discover its churches, palaces and artistic beauty. A stop will be made at the Church of Saint Ludovico, or Chiesa Madre, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, known for its belfry.
We'll also check out the Clock Tower of Mussomeli, which dates back to the 16th century but was restored in the early 20th century. By the 19th century, it featured a large three-sided clock visible from various parts of town.
The route will continue to Palazzo Sgadari, which became a prison in the 19th century and now houses the Archaeological Museum of Mussomeli. We will also visit Palazzo Trabia and the exteriors of churches such as Santa Margherita, Providence, and Monti.
After three hours, the tour will conclude near the Chiesa di San Giovanni.
