Get up close to one of Iceland's most visited spots by hopping on our shuttle bus to the DC3 Plane Wreck on Sólheimasandur Beach. You'll get a fantastic view of the wreckage of this US Navy aircraft from the 1970s.

Shuttle Bus to the DC3 Plane Wreck

At the scheduled time, we'll meet you at the Sólheimasandur Beach car park. From here, the bus will take you to the area around DC3. After just a 15-minute drive, you'll arrive at the DC3 Plane Wreck. This US Navy aircraft was on a routine flight from Höfn to Stokksnes in 1973 but was forced to land on an icy river at Sólheimasandur due to severe icing. There were no fatalities in the accident. Once at the site, you will have free time to explore and take pictures. After your visit, you will return to the starting point by bus.

Schedule

The bus operates between Vík and the DC3 Plane Wreck from 10 am to 5 pm. You can remain at the crash site for as long as you wish within this timeframe.
