Shuttle Bus to the DC3 Plane Wreck

Get up close to one of Iceland's most visited spots by hopping on our shuttle bus to the DC3 Plane Wreck on Sólheimasandur Beach. You'll get a fantastic view of the wreckage of this US Navy aircraft from the 1970s.

Shuttle Bus to the DC3 Plane Wreck

At the scheduled time, we'll meet you at the Sólheimasandur Beach car park. The bus will take you to the area around DC3. After just a 15-minute drive, you'll arrive at the DC3 Plane Wreck. This US Navy aircraft was forced to land in 1973 due to severe icing while on a routine flight from Höfn to Stokksnes.

There were no fatalities in the incident. Since then, the plane wreck has become a popular spot for visitors. At the site, you'll have free time to explore the plane and take pictures. After exploring, you'll hop back on the bus to return to the starting point.

Schedule

The bus schedules complete their roundtrip journeys between Vík and the DC3 Plane Wreck between 10 am and 5 pm. You can stay at the crash site for as long as you wish within this timeframe.
