Solheimajokull Ice Climbing & Glacier Hike
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the glacier parking lot to start this ice climbing and hiking experience on the Sólheimajökull glacier in the south of Iceland.
Once introductions have been made, we'll begin a 30-minute hiking route to the glacier, where we'll share interesting facts about these colossal ice formations.
Upon reaching the foot of Sólheimajökull, we'll equip you and explain the basics of ice climbing, followed by climbing the walls and crevasses of the glacier.
The ice cap we will climb sits on the Katla volcano, one of the largest and more active craters in Iceland. If the weather permits, we may also see Eyjafjallajökull, which disrupted European air traffic in 2010 due to its eruption.
After ice climbing, we will hike back to the meeting point, arriving approximately 4 hours after the activity begins.
