Takayama and Shirakawago Day Trip
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the west exit of Nagoya Station to begin our exploration of Takayama and Shirakawago.
After approximately 2 hours by bus, we'll arrive in Takayama, located in the Hida Mountains. We will walk along Sannomachi Street in the old town, where traditional wooden houses and temples can be found. You will learn about Sarubobo Dolls and their uses.
There will be free time for lunch at a local restaurant, with recommendations for authentic dining options featuring Japanese cuisine. Afterward, we will visit Miyagawa and Jinya-mae, two markets reflecting local life.
Next, we'll travel to Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, we will explore its streets and view the triangular straw roofs of houses that are over 250 years old and illustrate rural life in Japan.
We can also visit the Ogimachi Castle Observatory Deck for remarkable views of Gassho-mura and Mount Hakusan. Our final stop will be at Ochiudo Cafe, known for its lively atmosphere.
We will conclude our trip and return to Nagoya, arriving back at the initial meeting point after 10 hours.
