Description
Welcome to the Met! We'll meet by the pharaoh statue inside the Great Hall at the indicated time and begin our highlights tour of this iconic cultural institution.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art houses over 2 million pieces of art spanning 5,000 years. Throughout our guided tour, we'll explore notable pieces that contribute to the museum's reputation.
Our journey begins at the Egyptian Galleries with the Temple of Dendur, dating back to 10 B.C. Next, we’ll move to the American Wing to see historic works like “Washington Crossing the Delaware.”
We will then proceed to the European Wing to admire masterpieces from Vermeer, Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh, and Degas. The tour will cover the Baroque and Impressionist movements, followed by views of Modern and Contemporary art including works by Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock.
We will conclude in the Greek and Roman Art section, exploring a recreated Roman villa bedroom buried by Mt. Vesuvius. After a 2-hour tour, we will end our exploration of the Met.
