Visit the emblematic monuments and streets of Dakar when you take our tour of Senegal's capital. We will also visit the island of Goree to discover a dark chapter of history.

Dakar & Goree Island Private Tour

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your hotel in Saly and head to the north of Senegal. After approximately an hour and a half, we will reach Dakar, the capital city.

Our first stop is at the port, where a ferry will take us to Goree Island, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here, we will learn about the island's role in the Atlantic slave trade between the 16th and 19th centuries.

We will explore the island, visiting historical sites and modern memorials, including the House of Slaves. This building, with its pink facade, operated as a prison and marketplace for African slaves.

After a visit to a local restaurant to try traditional food (not included), we will return to the ferry and sail back to Dakar. In the capital, we will embark on a walking tour around essential sights. Our first stop is Independence Square, surrounded by buildings from the 1940s and 1950s.

We will also see the Presidential Palace and visit the bustling markets of Kermel and Sandaga, as well as the artisan stalls at Soumbedioune. You will encounter the African Renaissance Monument, the largest sculpture on the continent, and learn about its controversies.

In the last part of the trip, we will visit the neighborhood of Medina to see the Grand Mosque and the colorful Tilene market, known for Shamans selling charms and amulets.

We will return to Saly around 6 pm and drop you back at your hotel.
