Visit the emblematic monuments and streets of Dakar on our tour of Senegal's capital. This includes a visit to the island of Goree to uncover a dark chapter of history.

Dakar & Goree Island Private Tour

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your hotel in Saly and travel for approximately one and a half hours to Dakar, the capital city.

Our first stop is at the port, where we will take a ferry to the island of Goree, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, we will learn about the island's role as an important port in the Atlantic slave trade from the 16th to 19th centuries.

We will explore the island, visiting significant historic locations and memorials. This includes the House of Slaves, notable for its pink facade, which served as a prison and marketplace for African slaves.

Afterward, we will explore the island's narrow streets and admire the colonial houses before stopping at a local restaurant for traditional food (not included).

Once strengthened, we will return on the ferry to Dakar. In the capital, we will embark on a walking tour of the essential sights, starting at Independence Square, surrounded by historical buildings from the 1940s and 1950s.

We will also see the Presidential Palace, the Kermel and Sandaga markets, and the artisan stalls of Soumbedioune. Additionally, we will view the African Renaissance Monument, the largest sculpture on the continent.

Finally, we will visit the neighborhood of Medina, home to the Grand Mosque and the colorful Tilene market with Shamans selling charms and amulets.

We will return to Saly at around 6 pm and drop you back at your hotel.
